simwayap Week 2
LECTURE REFLECTIVE WRITING WEEK 2
Description:
Today I learnt about or how to write reflectively by either following the Borton Theory or the Gibbs Theory of reflective writing. My lecturer introduced this topic to inform the class that as part of our assessment on this module(Management and Information Systems) this semester, every student will be required to write reflectively on our lecturer presentations every week and also during group blogging in our respective groups in the IT class.
Evaluation /Analysis:
The topic made me think on how I could reflect effectively on what I learnt this morning. I sat there and thoughts were raning in my mind as I listened to the Lecture, thinking and allowing myself to absorb and write everything I was hearing on paper on anything that I could remember as he was talking. I thought it was really a wonderful exercise for it means students will be able to engaged and have a thought provoking mind which asks questions as they reflect on the topic being taught. This will continually foster independent approaches, thinking and conclusions on any topic which would also increase creativity and innovation..This reflective exercise has given me the power to think about the lecture in a new way and makes me feel happy about myself concerning the views and feedback on the course. I feel fortunate to be a part of this great experience.
Conclusion
I have promised myself to continue working hard on this reflective thinking and writing to ensure I devlop this skill more effectively because I have realise that it will make me a better essay writer, more analytical or become an effective individual in my communications as I will be analysing issues before I can give my opinion. It will also develop me to become innovative and creative in my thinking.
PERSONALSEMINOR BLOG
This week I have had to fininsh off my assignments on excel exercise 4 and 5 which we started last week and finishing off this week. I have always wanted to know how to use and create fomulae in excel which I am now learning and i am so happy I am doing it. I did enroll on an excel programme on line which I was doing on my own and i found it quite challanging because i did not have enough time to put in. But for this one, as challenging as it is, I am enjoying every class possibly also because, online training is different as you do not have that direct human support that I am enjoying in class. And also the availability of extra resource is such a bonus which I am truly benefiting as well as my fellow classmates who i can turn to and discuss where i am stuck. This is priceless.
GROUP PRESENTATION
We have set up a whatssup group and have agreed to meet next |Tuesday in the campus library to discuss our ideas and kickstart the group presentation with a view to submit it by deadline date as required by our module guide and lecturer.
We also interacted well within and among my group members as we picked the roles as well. We discussed on how to define the Business Case and we further looked at the we would present the business case.
The questions raised were, what is a Business Case?
A Businesss Case provides justification for undertaking a project or programme. It evaluated the benefits, cost and risk of alternative options and provides a rationale forthe preferred solution. A business case was also identified as a scenario that gives me the opportunity to identify problems, apply all the knowledge I do have and at thew most.
And it was further identified that an analyst has the responsibility to identify the problems presented in the scenario, to develop and compare alternative solutions to problems, consider the advantages and disadvantages of various possible solutions and present a write up of your case in an ideal world.
We finally concluded that we were going to meet the following week to nstart putting work together.
