LECTURE REFLECTIVE WRITING
Description:
The lecture yesterday was brilliant in that i learnt a lot regarding reflective writing and the Internet. I also learnt about the impact of the imternet on the world business in general. My Lecturer introduced us to the early days of google upto the present position that google has grown to now. More importantly, we have been introduced to the aspect of business intelliengence.
2. Lecturer Haider then talked about what reflection is again and the reasons it should be done. He continued in his lecture on what the impact of the internet has had on world business in that it has changed the world; the way things are done, the shopping, the going out, the flight bookings and yourself so.
3. He described the difference by saying that the internet is the virtual network and the connectivity of linking the systems and the www was the infrastructure.
4. I also learnt about Gibbs 6 Structured way of reflective writing; Description, Feeling, Evaluation, Analysis, Conclusion and Action Plan.. These are ways of expression when writing a reflectively account. We will then given some examples that we could learn from and digest the way they are presented.
Evaluation /Analysis:
1. I think business intelliengence is crucial in this world today because it involves information about the business internally and externally. It is this data that when used correctively and effectively can break or make a business because it enables management to make short, medium and long term business decisions.
2. I have also come to know that the amount of data or business information has become too diverse and in greater mass that organistions have to devise ways and means of dealing with it so that they are able to use it effectively for their benefit. Of course this has its own disadvatanges like using too much power as in the case of google in the video we saw in the lecture This I must say is a big challenge for organisation to cope with as so much data is generated per second per day from all sorts of devices mobile phones, computers, tv, mordern cars, plans and all sorts of electronic equipments and they have to store that information.
Conclusion/Action.
This jouney on this business Intelliegence trip has been an eye opener to me that it has made me to see a lot of other areas for learning and has also given me some things to think of such as machine learning and automation. As I am writing, I am thinking the dangers of it because this will definately give rise people loosing jobs as antomation takes over as long term goals of big businesses is profitability and growth. These big businesses would be happy to invest in robots that could do jobs effeciently and quicker such as the car manafacturing industrywhich is a big threat to national labour as technology takes over.
PERSONAL SEMINOR BLOG
1. The seminer has been so interesting in that wwe have been doing group meeting which have been discussing our business youtube for thge group assignment.
2. Having talked about that in class today, we were then contnuing wth the usage of excel and I love the fact I am making so much progressive with creating formulaes something that I have had alswys had a problems.
3. So we carried on with the tasks of creating formulae and how to use them. It has truly been a very rewwarding day in all my cvlasses because I learn somethimng new everyd ay and I love it. My lecturer has been great and coming to think of it, coming to university has been a really rewar4ding experience though it is only the first month but I can visualise and conclude that what a wonderful experience.
GROUP PRESENTATION
This week, we choose or arranged ourselves into groups and we had our informal meeting in class in our respective groups and we introduced ourselves. Everybody in the team has been looking forward to this and agreed to encourage each other until the presentation is done.
MY LAB CLASS EXPERIENCE
1. It was nother great afternoon in which I had a continuation from l last week. We are taken straight into understanding what excel is all about, prompting us to understand what formulas are. This topic to me is priceless.
2.I have got so much involved into this subject of digital business and environment and I am trying understand this excel formulas and i have promised myself to excel in this area too.
I am so grateful to have a lecturer like Susie who has been patient with us who are slow learners and I trust the sky will not be the limit.
